Bespoke 10-Day Norway Itinerary: Seattle to Oslo and Beyond

Day 1: Departure from Seattle

Day 2: Arrival in Oslo via Keflavik

Upon arrival, you will take the Flytoget airport express train to the National Theatre train station and then grab an Uber or taxi to The Thief. After a restful night, the morning starts with a checkout from The Thief and a short SAS flight from Oslo to the picturesque town of Ålesund. Ålesund, smaller and less crowded than Oslo, combines historical charm with beautiful natural landscapes. Upon arrival, you will pick up a rental car and drive to the Juvet Landscape Hotel, which takes about 90 minutes. The Juvet Landscape Hotel, as featured in the series “Succession” and the movie “Ex Machina,” is nestled in the pristine landscapes of Norway; beautiful mountains and a raging river surround this impressive retreat, a mix of modern and rustic luxury. Day 4: Leisure Day or Hiking near Juvet Landscape Hotel

With no planned activities, you have the entire day to explore the stunning landscape around Juvet Landscape Hotel. You can also drive 20 minutes to the Eidsdal-Linge ferry and take it to UNESCO Gierangerfjord, one of the world’s most beautiful fjords. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can hike to the Storfossen waterfall. After your hike, the Union Hotel is a great place for lunch.

Day 5: Return to Oslo

The day begins with your rental car return in Ålesund and a flight back to Oslo. Upon arrival, you will check into the Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel, located in the heart of the city.

Hit Oslo’s highlights: National Gallery, whose pieces include Edvard Munch’s iconic “The Scream” and “Madonna.” Following your art exploration, take a relaxing walk to the Royal Palace. If you time it right, you can watch the changing of the guard, a ceremonial tradition that’s both picturesque and steeped in history. Visit the stunning Oslo Opera House. Its modern architecture and accessible roof offer panoramic views of Oslo and the fjord. Enjoy Nature at Vigeland Park and the Oslo Botanical Gardens

The highlight of Oslo is visiting The Well Spa, where you can unwind and rejuvenate with various treatments. You can get a day pass and enjoy three floors of saunas, pools, and jacuzzis. Bathing suits are only allowed if you visit on a Tuesday. A leisurely lunch here offers a perfect pause in the day. After a relaxing day at the Well spa, visit Avalon, a local favorite, where the ambiance and meal cap off another delightful day.

Day 7: Norway in a Nutshell

Checking out from Radisson Blu, the adventure continues with the famed “Norway in a Nutshell” train journey. This scenic route offers breathtaking views of Norway’s fjords, mountains, and waterfalls. The Oslo to Bergen trip stops at the historic Fretheim Hotel in Flam, where you can relax and soak in the water and fjord views.

Day 8: Fjord Cruise and Bergen

The following day, you take a scenic fjord cruise, an essential Norwegian experience. After the cruise, you travel by bus and train to Bergen and check in at Opus XVI, a boutique hotel that blends classic design with contemporary elegance.
